About Us

Two Oceans Marine was founded  twenty two years ago, being registered in October 1989

From humble beginnings, as an extension to a petrol service station, the company has developed into a fully fledged design and manufacturing facility for ocean going craft.

The company,  located in Cape Town, now has has 4500 square meters of covered factory floor space on two different premises, one in Cape Town harbour and the other 3km from the harbour. The factory is able to accommodate vessels of up to 30 m in length.

Two Oceans Marine spearheaded the introduction of power catamarans to the Cape Town market. Initially, very few of these craft were used in the Cape waters. This situation was to change, and today, the local tuna fishing fleet consists, almost exclusively, of catamarans .Throughout the South African offshore boating community, catamarans are the vessels of choice, and Two Oceans Marine is highly regarded for their ability to meet and exceed the demands of our customers.

The company has moulds for the production of  powered catamarans, and enjoys a high market share, for its 23 ft, 28 ft and 32 ft hulls.

One- off vessels, designed by well known naval architects, are manufactured and currently operate all over the world. These vessels include:  50 ft sailing catamarans, the Open Ocean 500, designed by Alex Simonis: a high performance 47 ft sailing cat, designed by John Shuttleworth: 57 and 63 ft cruising sailing catamarans, as well as 42 and 47 ft power boats, and a 72 ft 180 passenger ferry and currently under construction is a 75 ft power cat, a 48 foot custom sport fisher and a 75 ft sailing cat.

Extensive testing is performed on all new production boats, prior to the completion of moulds. We are fortunate to have on our doorstep, access to some of the most demanding sea conditions the world has to offer, in which to perform these tests.

Potential clients are able to fly to Cape Town, sea trial the vessel of their choice, visit the factory to witness the building methods, and the materials used in production, customize their choice of vessel, and then fly home on the same day.

Completed vessels are launched and sea trialed within a short distance of the factory thereby saving time and unnecessary expense on travel.

The company owns certain walk- on moorings at Hout Bay harbor. This allows for a professional, unhurried, and detailed hand over, to the customer, of vessels under actual operating conditions.

The company has numerous staff with extensive experience at sea, both in power and in sail. With this experience, all of which is kept current, we are able to offer practical advice to our clients in order to assist them with their choice of vessel, be it large or small, power or sail. In most instances our own staff handle the delivery of the vessel to its home port, by sea. These delivery trips are used to allow hands on training for the new owners.
